Would you believe that even though I have lost 70 pounds now, I am still wearing the same size bra? I know, it's completely ridic. Well, today I thought I would buy myself an early birthday present in the form of some new brassieres.
I hit up the fancy boutique downtown and got measured. I love how they do things here: they measure you in your old bra, then go out and bring you in a few bras to try. Saves you a bunch of time trying on things that just aren't going to work -- the first one she brought me was the best by far. I bought two everyday bras -- one black and one beige -- and a beige sports bra that will totally work for every day too.
Okay okay, so I know what you are waiting for. Size difference? From a 46DD to a 38G. HELL-O! As my hubby said, 38? Geez! Pretty cool, eh girls?
I won't even tell you what I spent because I am slightly horrified about it. Let's just say these babies will never see the inside of a washing machine. I even bought some fancy new lingerie powder so they can soak clean in a bowl overnight in all their delicate glory. Yeah.
Back tomorrow with my final weigh-in for my 11 week challenge!

My Someday Box
Thanks for the shopping suggestions from my last post! I ended up getting a pair of khakis at Kohl's (16s even!), and I'll probably go back for more. I still have to do some patient contact stuff in the mornings so I won't be getting too dressed up. Plus, I'll still need to wear my clogs (no cute shoes for this gal), and they just do not go with dress pants.
Over the weekend, I was rifling through some things in the basement, and I came across a bin of clothes I had dubbed my "someday" box. As in, I will someday fit into these clothes again. Wouldn't ya know, my first "someday" has arrived. There was a pair of size 18 jeans from New York & Company in there -- they totally fit! A little further digging revealed another bin full of 16s and 18s -- all kinds of jeans, khakis, shorts, etc. I tried on everything, and pitched half of it for being too big. Keep in mind these things are all at least six or seven years old, and we all know how Lane Bryant cuts their clothes a little, ahem, different these days. So I wasn't too upset when I found an eight year old size 20 pair of capris that fit great. Lord, how I hate that store.
Anyone else have a someday box?

Getting there...
Yesterday at work, I walked into our staff bathroom to find someone had barfed all over the toilet and the floor. And just left it there. While I was surely a little grossed out, the first thing I thought of was, "Geez, couldn't they have got it in the toilet? All the times I've yakked up my lunch here, I've never left a mess behind!" Uhhh...What am I? Some kind of professional barfer? Ew. Just goes to show how living with a band can change your perspective on some things, not necessarily for the better.
The other night I was getting my pajamas on and, without thinking, I pulled off my jeans without unbuttoning or unzipping. You know what that means -- time to go down a size! So, I pulled out the size 16 Old Navy jeans I had bought on super sale in December. The good news? They fit! The bad news? My poor old saggy stomach is no match for these low riders. Muffin top galore! Ugh. So now what? I need to find some, dare I say, mom jeans that I can tuck the muffin top into.
The exercise must be working. Duh, right? I'm in my second week of the Angry Birds workout from Nerd Fitness. It's going really well. I'm doing my squats in the locker room before work, push-ups off the counter in my kitchen, back exercises and planks while the kids are playing. So far, I'm up to 50 squats and two minutes of planks. I'm still on level one for the pushups (40 incline) and back exercises (30 1 arm rows). I do need to move up in the back exercise, but I haven't figure out anything heavy enough to lift for a bent over row with both arms. I do have some resistance bands, so maybe I'll try those tomorrow. I love the feeling of sore muscles!

Whoa
Crap, how did it get to be Thursday already?
Today I purchased a pair of jeans in a 16! Granted, they are from Lane Bryant, but it's still smaller, right? I had just been to Macy's, and I had tried on a ton of expensive jeans there... not one pair looked good. I decided to take a chance on good ol' LB, and they came through for me. I got a cute little cami and sweater combo in purple too. And I had a coupon! New jeans and shirts for $50. Can't beat it!

More on my shopping trip today
This whole time I've been having second thoughts about my Dress Barn purchase. It's a cute dress, but I didn't feel like I looked that great in it. At this point in my weight loss career, if I put that much money into something, I better feel absolutely fantastic with it on. This new dress is really nicely made and can definitely be taken in as I get thinner. I also love it on me and don't even feel like I need my "foundation garments." The trick will be getting it to Chicago without it turning into a wrinkled mess. Hotels have steamers, don't they?
Anywhoozle (to borrow from Draz and others), this shopping trip, apart from the awesome dress purchase, was seriously depressing. I'm a very picky shopper -- I get an idea in my head about what I'm looking for and nothing else will do. This is especially unfortunate when you are a plus-size shopper with limited stores to choose from. I started at Parisian because they have their Goodwill Sale going on right now. The selection there was dismal -- no dresses above a 16 that I could tell. I did score a cute pair of ankle boots though (so I guess there were two good things about my trip). Lord n Taylor and Macy's were next -- nothing. Then I went to Torrid where a very nice girl got me lots of cute things to try on, except I realized in the dressing room that I'm 34, not 24, and bar pants and a sequined tank are just not me anymore. Depressing. Lane Bryant even let me down. I found a cute gray and black leopard print skirt, but they didn't have my size. Poo.
The real bummer about this whole thing is that I let a few hours of bad shopping completely negate my progress so far. I found myself thinking... What the hell? I've lost almost sixty pounds and I still look like a frumpy slob? Still? What is it going to take? I had to remind myself that three years ago, I probably would have been crying because there wouldn't have been a sweet Calvin Klein dress in my size that was even remotely wearable. Or that wouldn't make me look like a sack of potatoes. The bottom line is, I did find a dress that I love (even my mom thought it looked great). And I'm not a frumpy slob anymore. Sometimes I still frump out, but as the mother or two under two, I reserve that right!
I do have to say, I'm glad a lot of you were talking about how sizes have changed because today I was wearing a size 22 pair of jeans from LB that are about 6 years old. How depressing is that?! Especially when I'm fitting into 16s and 18s in the stores! Damn you, vanity sizing!
All that mall walking counts as exercise too, right? And I was supposed to start packing for this weekend!

Cats and clothes
My mom came over today to help me take the cats to the vet (more on that in a bit) and to help me shop for some Chicago items. Shopping with my mom can be risky, but I really needed someone to be objective. And my mother will definitely give me the last word on whether I can get away with wearing something. Plus, I think she was a little excited (just like me) that I was finding a ton of stuff to try on. For the record, she is a teensy weensy little size 6. I think she was probably a size 0 when she got married. Seriously. Tiny. Person. So you can imagine how enormous I felt being compared to her all the time -- but that's another post for another time.
Back to the shops... After tons of trying on tons of stuff, all I ended up with was the dress from Dress Barn (see previous post) and two little sweaters. One is a very lightweight brown number that I still need something to put under. The other is a fluttery black jersey cardi which I thought would be good for Friday night (it will be perfect for bar-going, if that happens to be part of Friday night). Both sweaters were right around $20 each, which is in keeping with my rules about not spending too much money on things that won't fit me in two months.
When we got back to my house, I tried on all my jeans and khakis that I had in the closet. I got two pairs for the sisterhood (not sure if they'll make it to Chicago, so I'll post them later). I also attempted to wiggle into my spanx and failed miserably. Seriously people, I do not get the spanx. I bought these things for my honeymoon cruise and actually remember being in tears trying to get them on! I will instead be smoothing myself with your basic power panty / girdle type thing from Cacique. Whatever. It works.
So, all in all, I'm mostly set to pack for Chi-town. Except for shoes... that is going to be a problem. I am a total shoe whore. I have at least four pair out at any given time, and they all live right next to the side door. My husband has dubbed this area the "Payless Shoe Store". I'm really trying to pare down to three pair in my luggage, but sometimes a girl just likes to have options.
About the kittens... I actually only managed to get two of the three cats to the vet this morning. The other one hid in the basement, and there was just no finding him. Of the two that did go, one gained two pounds and the other lost two pounds, which was a bit worrisome. So almost three hundred dollars later, I now know that Snickers does not have parasites, liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes, or UTI. Still waiting on the thyroid panel. And she and Mr. Baby are finally up to date on their shots. Mr. Baby is a beast now at 13lbs. Sheesh.
Oh yeah, 217.1 on the scale this morning. Two more to go... can she do it?

Target made my day
Did you guys know that regular clothes (read: not Womens) go up to an 18 now? I went a little crazy trying stuff on yesterday. No pics though -- my phone is a crappy dressing room camera. After all that though, all I ended up getting was a pair of jeans. I am quite happy with that though. They fit good and they look good and they were CHEAP. Which is good since I only plan on wearing them for about two months.
I am going crazy right now trying to pull together my daughters 2nd birthday party this Sunday. I let this entire last month go by the wayside -- I guess that's what happens when you feel like shit and have zero motivation. Anyway, I ordered food and the cake Wednesday, bought supplies yesterday, and today after work I need to go order balloons (maybe) and buy pop and chips. Busy busy!

Relief!
The ureter stent finally came out today. Things are still a bit uncomfortable, but it should all be a distant memory in a few days. When I got to the urologists office today, I had a little moment. I was under the impression that this thing was coming out no matter what, so when the assistant told me the doc had to look at my xray and ultrasound first, I started crying! Just the thought of having to deal with that thing one more day was enough to send me into a tizzy. But, all that was unnecessary because it is gone. Finally. I am so looking forward to peeing without pain.
AND. I weighed in this morning at 217.5, so my 60lb mark is definitely within reach by the end of this month. If I get my sorry ass to the gym a couple times next week, and keep the junk under control, all will fall into place I think. It would be really nice to get past this next milestone. I have been looking at some recent pics of me and one thing I noticed is how much narrower I am. I guess I'm always looking at my profile and waiting for my boobs and gut to shrink in, and I never thought about checking things out from other angles. Looks good!
I really really really really really need to go shopping. I need a nice outfit to wear to dinner in Chicago, and a couple decent shirts (other than t-shirts) to wear around. Maybe a casual pair of shoes. My wardrobe is in seriously awful condition. At the same time, I don't want to spend a bunch of money on clothes just yet. Especially since I plan on losing another 25-30 by the end of the year. What is a girl to do?

Update on the boulder in my kidney
In my post a few days ago, I mentioned I was having a CT scan to size up the little bastard stone my right kidney has been growing. Well, it's a whole 1 cm (which means BIG), and it is now lodged in my ureter. which means lithotripsy is no longer an option. Tomorrow I will be back under general anesthesia so my urologist can go up there, break it up with a laser, and drag it out. Good times! At least this procedure will not result in more holes in my belly (don't count these chickens before they hatch, right?). Wish me luck! Oh yeah, and there's another 3.5mm stone in the other kidney. Sheesh.
Other than that, I'm still holding around 216-218. I haven't been exercising at all, but my water intake has been excellent. Not making too much of an effort with food. I'm making good choices, but, as always, they could be better. Still walking around in shorts two sizes too big for me because a) I'm being too cheap to spend money on shorts I'm only going to wear for a few more weeks and b) I haven't had time to go shopping. I'm really hoping to do a mini shopping spree just before Chicago. When I say I have no clothes, I really mean I have no clothes. I have one pair of khaki capris that I bought in June, and a few tees that fit good. I wear scrubs to work, so I don't even have any dress clothes. Hell, I don't even know if my shoes fit me anymore. It's so weird and so wonderful at the same time.
Hmmm... I wasn't really planning a clothing rant for tonight, but I guess that is what's rattling around my noggin.

NSVs!
First, a small scale win. 219 this morning. Goodbye 220s! Onederland grows ever closer!
NSV 1: I broke down and bought new scrub pants today... in size L. Yes L, not X L. I believe this is my first non plus size clothing purchase! Two people commented on how my pants were practically falling off of me, so I figured it was time.
NSV 2: I don't think I told you guys this yet... I went to Kohl's last weekend and discovered my favorite t-shirts were on sale for 4.99. I caught a look at myself in my own clothes and realized how absolutely frumptastic I am looking. Know why? Because my clothes are too damn big! So I got new tees in a 1x instead of a 2x! Yay!
NSV 3: Sunday, I nearly walked right out of a pair of shoes! Shoes are too big! Who would've thought? Maybe losing all this weight will make up for the pregnancy spread.
NSV 4: Perhaps the best one. I realized today that my gut is no longer out past my boobs. And that is without sucking it in! I'm a happy camper today!

Sisterhood of the traveling underpants?
In my quest to find new undergarments, I bought a 3-pack at Target and they are just not doing it for me. I tried on one pair over my current undies, so there is no nastiness! I will post details soon along with some jeans. Oh yeas, people. I dug up some pantalones from our basement closet. I am fitting into 18s now, dontcha know. I think it's about time to say sayonara to my size 22 jeans from the LB. If this is sounding weird, it's because I just had me a big ol' margarita, and I need to go sleep it off!

Happy Sunday!
I hope all of you out there are having a good weekend. Hubs and I have gotten tons of chores done. This is the first weekend in a while where we didn't have any obligations. We even managed to get the kids napping at the same time twice!
We have set a giant goal for ourselves to pay off our last credit card within the next year. If we stick to the budget we set up, it should be easy. Unfortunately, we are both notorious impulse buyers and collectors, but I think the carrot at the end of this stick is big enough to keep us in line. It all comes down to getting out of our house. There's nothing wrong with it -- it's just feeling a bit small with 2 kids now, and we're on a main road, which has a whole host of annoyances. I'm dreaming of a house with a decent yard, on a nice quiet side street where I can leave my front door open without getting tons of road dirt blown in and hear the tv without having to strain over the traffic noise. Oh yeah, and enough room so that our office doesn't have to be in our bedroom. Someday...
So, I'm having an underwear dilemma. I noticed mine were getting a little loose -- they are 14/16 from good ol' Lane Bryant. It's the smallest they make, so now what? In my smaller days I used to wear buy my undies at Victoria's Secret, but I don't think I'm quite there yet. I tried buying a pack from Target, but the size I should be according to their chart was too big. I guess I'm going to have to go to Sears or Macy's or somewhere I can try them on. This is one of those good, but annoying NSVs. Good because it means I'm getting smaller, annoying because now I have to find new favorite underwear!

A couple things
I do mean to update here more often, but we had a death in the family, so it's been a busy week.
Yesterday was W1D2 of C25k. It went way better than Monday. I managed to run the first 4 intervals, 3 partial ones, and then I skipped one -- mostly because I was at a stoplight and I just couldn't bring myself to run in place.
One thing that became very apparent to me yesterday was that two pregnancies have definitely changed my body. I was squishy before, so I wasn't really sure all that much had changed, but my workout pants beg to differ. I used to be able to pull them up over the muffin top to sort of smooth things out, but instead they now roll right down to my waist. I have to say, it was a pretty huge thing for me to get over myself and run anyway knowing my belly flab was bouncing along for all to see. Then, a little old man who was watering his garden cheered me on. That was pretty cool.
I have to say, this weight is coming off for good, if for nothing else than to not have to face the horror of clothing shopping ever again. Now I get that even if you are of a slender shape, it's not always easy to find clothes either. At least you have more stores to choose from. I was in a big hurry after work the other day, trying to find an outfit for the funeral, so I figured I'd try good ol' Lane Bryant. Lord, I will so happy not to set foot in that store again. Granted, I have about 50lbs to lose before that happens. Epic. Shopping. Fail. I tried on eight pairs of pants, all of which made me look like I was wearing a circus tent. Four sweaters that did nothing but show off my stomach fat. So, I gave up and went to Macy's to try to find a pair of shoes. Four pairs I pick out -- none of which they have bigger than a size 8. Screw it.
Luckily, I found two pair of dress pants in my closet that still fit (one's even a bit big), so now I'm about to do some serious last minute shopping for a shirt or two. Wish me luck.
