PB Alert!

Some of you out there were talking PBs recently, and so I have to tell you that my band went all DEFCON 1 on me over a hamburger tonight. Oh yes... we're talking about two hours of intermittent slime, golf ball in the chest, back pain, culminating in my usual wretching over the toilet. All this while trying to get two toddlers bathed and read to and in bed. Anyway, it's over now.

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about whether I'm too tight or not. I won't lie -- the news of a few of our own having their bands removed recently gets the wheels turning. On top of that, another banded friend of mine just wrote me and said she just had her band removed last week! Totally out of nowhere! I know, for me, the crazy heat and humidity we've had around here is making me a little tighter, and I'm probably not being as careful as I should. Then I look at the fact that I really am not making solid headway in weight loss. I'm probably resorting to sliders (and a few frappuccinos here and there). And then Gilly posted about the importance of portion size, and I know I don't always limit myself to a cup.

So, I think, before things get too out of hand, maybe I need to suck it up and log for a while. Also, maybe I need to package my work food into 1 cup containers. I barely have time to eat these days anyway, so I certainly wouldn't feel deprived. Anyone else ever try that?

That's about where I'm at right now. Struggling a bit. I'll get past it.

Hamburger, huh? It's not a food I can eat AT ALL. I guess too tight is a state of mind. If you expect to be able to eat hamburger, you probably are too tight. I need to take very small bites of band friendly food, and chew my jaw off to avoid a problem. According to my MD, I am not too tight, I just need to chew more. Who knows?

It's so hard to figure it out sometimes. I know it's easy to get paranoid and then we have to examine if it's us or the band. It is crazy hot here too and I'm tight. Take it easy.

I haven't had a fill yet so I dont know how it will feel when filled. I had one tonight and no problems with beef but I did chew until each bite was almost liquid like. I couldn't imagine having that feeling for two hours :(

Hey Maria, I saw you were following me so I went back and read thru your entire blog! You're hsyterical! Can't wait to meet you in Chicago :)

Sometimes I wonder if I'm too tight...but then I can eat ridiculous amounts of food. I am struggling right now too...haven't lost any weight since Feb!

I regularly portion out my work food, I guess because I get so busy I eat at my desk while I work and if I don't portion the food, I just eat until it's all gone, that can lead to PB and that is never good :o)

Logging and counting and packaging my food works so well for me. I haven't been doing it this week and I need to start back up. I have issues with burgers. I tend to take to big of bites. I do with most sandwich type things.

I have the most issues when I forget I am banded and I take a huge bite and down it goes. THEN WAM...it's stuck. Every single time I tell myself "when will you learn" Just alst night!
But I'll get there! My problem now is that I waste a lot of food still thinking I can eat it. No so much with breakfast and lunch. But dinner! Whoa baby...

I think I'm scared to get a fill now that I see everyone getting their bands removed. :(

I think it's a great idea to portion out sizes, I really need to start doing that for myself as well, I'll do it if you will! :)

Prepacking 1 cup portions is a great idea! I do it when I can so I don't have to think about it. I find that it's usually enough but if I have more, I'll eat more.
